Embracing Our Journey

When I found out I was pregnant, it was the best day of my life. There’s nothing quite like those 2 little pink lines.

After spending months organizing the gender reveal, buying baby clothes, preparing for the baby shower, and decorating the nursery, none of those experiences truly compare to the first and last moments we heard her heartbeat—little did we realize it would be the last time.

Our daughter, Amara Magnolia was born sleeping on November 21, 2023.

To our beautiful baby in heaven - I will spend my whole life missing you, celebrating you, learning from you, and wondering what color your eyes are. I would endure a lifetime of pain just to spare you from experiencing any.

Losing a child is an experience I wouldn't wish on anyone, as it's not a community one willingly joins or wishes for others to comprehend. The harsh reality is that it happens every day, and the journey can be isolating. Yet, through spirituality, community, and art, we find solace daily, aspiring to share that peace with others.

Each day introduces a new set of emotions—anger, peace, love, or sadness. The crucial aspect is granting oneself grace, as grief is not a linear process and may extend for years or a lifetime.

“Grief is not a linear slide into darkness. It is a cyclical path that eventually rotates into light. Spring comes after the cold, harsh winter. Yes, there are seasons when grief is louder and more disruptive, but there are also seasons when grief backs off, your strength returns, and night turns into morning.” -Shelby Forsythia

I started Amara’s Light, to help others rediscover their light after the heartbreak of infant or pregnancy loss. If you know someone facing fertility struggles, miscarriage, stillbirth, or anything in between, please inform them about Amara's Light.
